Why the Quiz Site?
Ascendance of a Bookworm is no doubt one of the best fantasy light novels I have ever read, so perfect that Bookworm might have actually ruined all other light novels in the same genre for me. When the English pre-pub got to the end of the second-to-last volume, I was wondering what I could do to cope with Myneday withdrawal when the series finally ends...
"Maybe I should make a fancy statistical analysis site for Bookworm," I thought. I had already made a tiny version of the analysis, focusing on just word frequency. Now... what if the analysis goes more in-depth, open-ended, and interactive? That would mean bringing the analysis to the open web and no more Excel or GraphPad Prism for plotting... Oh, and I have to deal with CSS for the front-end???
At the same time, spoiler alert, [P5V10+] the conclusion of the true ditter game brings forth many political (and magical) troubles, many of which involve the general geography of Yurgenschmidt. Really, it is interesting that there isn't already a site that helps you memorize the maps included in the novel. "I'll just have to make them myself," Myne's voice echoed in my mind. And just like that, I had an excuse to experiment with Chart.js and webpage design until I found a good enough setup for the analysis app in the future.
Ascendance of a Bookworm
Ascendance of a Bookworm ~I'll do anything to become a librarian!~ (本好きの下剋上 ~司書になるためには手段を選んでいられません~ / Honzuki no Gekokujō ~Shisho ni Naru Tame ni wa Shudan wo Erandeiraremasen~ /) is a Japanese fantasy light novel series written by Miya Kazuki and illustrated by You Shiina.
The story was originally serialized online from September 2013 to March 2017 on the user-generated novel publishing website Shōsetsuka ni Narō. The Japanese light novels were later licensed and published by TO Books, and the official English translation is licensed and published by J-Novel Club. The series received an anime adaptation in 2019 and 2020, with a third season airing in 2022.
